Abstract :
An assumption of complete spatial randomness has been used to obtain analytic expressions that describe the probability that the closest lightning strike is within any distance of an arbitrary point or a simulated power line, if the area density of strikes in the region is known. Preliminary tests of these functions show that they describe experimental data rather well, but such tests are limited by the accuracy of the measurements.
