Abstract
In the year 2001 the town hall of Coslada put out to public tender the design, engineering, execution and site management of the installation of 5 kWp grid connected photovoltaic systems in 19 state schools in the town, setting up what have been dubbed "solar photovoltaic roofs" for the auto-production of electricity. The town Hall of Coslada stressed the need for the location of solar panels on school roofs to be architecturally integrated. ISOFOTON S.A. developed a series of proposals for each particular school which achieved a compromise between the technical limitations inherent in the solar installation (south facing panels, inclination, etc.) and the arrangement of the modules according to architectural criteria.
