Photovoltaics: an energy option for sustainable development

This paper is organized into three major parts. In the first part, the basic concept of the sustainable development of future energy supply is described. In the second part, we discuss why we are bothering with photovoltaics (PV), features and market potential of PV for the future energy supply. Finally, the government strategy for the PV development is discussed, including Mongolian government initiative to participate in the development procedure of the large scale PV power generation system in Gobi desert in Mongolia.
