Abstract
This paper describes the history, present status, incentives and future development of PV in Thailand. According to the national energy policy office (NEPO)´s tentative action plan 2002-2006, by end of 2006 about 10 MWp, consisting of grid-connection and off-grid system will be added to the existing 5.6 MWp. In the long run the market opportunity in the neighboring countries´ rural electrification program would become more appealing to the joint-venture groups in Thailand.
