Abstract
Shadow on the PV module is characterized by its shape and density. The former is able to discuss its area on the PV cells. But the latter is difficult to evaluation. Density of shadow on PV cells can vary by using transparent film, but it should be defined by environmental parameters for repeatability matters. So, the authors evaluated the density of shadow by solar scattering rate of solar irradiance, then we simultaneously measured the output characteristics of both shaded PV module and unshaded PV module in the open air. It was found that shadow loss decreases as scattering rate rise.
