Abstract :
The lower hybrid heating system of Tore Supra includes presently 16 TH2103 klystrons delivering 500 kW each at 3.7 GHz. These klystrons which operate in long pulses have recently contributed to the achievement of a record energy in excess of 1 Gigajoule deposited in a plasma during a single shot. A new klystron, the TH2103C is currently under development to upgrade the output power at 750 kW CW.
