  • Abstract
We have developed an optical transmitter component for 10.52 Gbit/s data rate at 1310 nm wavelength, using a ridge wave guide distributed feedback laser in a TO-46 type coaxial package with a receptacle for SC or LC fiber connectors and a flexible printed circuit board for connecting the laser diode to a laser diode driver within a 50 Ω impedance system. A monitor photo diode measures the time averaged optical output power of the laser diode, while a thermistor detects the component case temperature in the immediate vicinity of the laser. The component is designed for uncooled operation in 10 GbE fiber optics transceivers according to the XPAK or X2 multi-source agreements.
