Abstract :
The contents of router advertisement messages are used in traditional handoff algorithm of mobile IPv6, with increased overhead in result. Moreover, ping-pong registrations are ever-present in wireless environment, especially in micro-cell areas. Ping-pong registrations will lead to instability of routing path and some unnecessary sending of mobility management messages. In this paper, a novel handoff algorithm is proposed to resolve ping-pong registration and improve route stability by using parameters and timer. The experiment of TCP throughput shows that the new scheme achieves substantial performance improvements.
