Abstract :
This paper introduces a system based on a relational database containing data from a wide range of different instruments for analyzing precipitation and vertical cloud structure during snowfall. Temporal resolution of less than one minute allows distinguishing between different phases of a snowfall event. We have designed a database for snowfall measurement and populated it with data from one large observation campaign and this database helps to manage the values from a large number of different instruments. The system facilitates data retrieval and simultaneous visualization from multiple sources. SQL language (Standard Query Language) provides a standard method to select and export data from the database for further analysis using external tools.
