            Abstract :
This work presents a comparative analysis of various numerical integration algorithms with respect to the error they introduce in the frequency spectrum of the numerical solution of a differential equation. It is shown that the most common linear multistep methods, often used for time-domain simulation, are ill-suited for frequency-domain analysis, and that much better accuracy can be obtained using another algorithm, recently developed for the specific purpose of performing continuous-spectrum frequency-domain simulation. Examples of numerical simulations that demonstrate this point are presented and discussed.
