Abstract :
A solid hand phantom for use with mobile phones is presented. It has been found that the use of the hand phantom typically causes an additional loss of approximately 2 dB for a built-in antenna and about 1 dB for an external antenna. These results hold true for both the GSM900 and the GSM1800 bands. The extractable long external antenna only has minor hand losses at both bands.
