Abstract :
This work describes the design method for a tapered slot antenna (TSA) fed by an independent balun circuit via a balanced transmission line. Moreover, the matching and radiation properties are considered experimentally. This paper proposes a type of TSA in which the radiator and the feeding circuit can be analyzed separately. A Vivaldi TSA is utilized as the radiator in the system since the input impedance variation is periodical. A microstrip line-slot line transition circuit is adopted to construct a wide band balun. It is confirmed from the experimental results that the analysis of the antenna system can be accomplished by analyzing the constituent parts separately.
