Abstract :
Antenna applications in car satellite communications experience multi-path interferences from hood or trunk if installed near the edge of the roof. This work considers microstrip antennas, which are widely employed, and develops techniques to reduce the multipath effects and improve the antenna performance. This work integrates, a hybrid mounted horn and resistive card (R-card) structure to improve antenna performance. It potentially reduces the sidelobes and wide angle main beam patterns, and increases the gains without significantly impacting the operating frequency. Experimental examinations are presented to demonstrate the concepts.
