Abstract :
Online measurements of partial discharges were made using a computer based discharge analyser (CDA3), which was designed to accept narrowband signals (20-300 kHz) from a conventional discharge detector. The partial discharge signals generated by the machine insulation, being of a wideband nature (>30 MHz), required a wideband sensor and detector to achieve maximum sensitivity. A wideband signal processor was developed as a front-end addition to the CDA3 system.
