Abstract
The paper describes a BFM (beam forming module) design. As well as the electric performance, the design considers size and cost reduction of an APAA (active phased array antenna). For this purpose, the BFM was designed using a 10-to-4 column combiner which equally combines the receiving power of 10 RX-channels to 4 output channels. By this unequal power combining method, the number of APAA active channels can be minimized, and the size, weight and production cost of the APAA can be considerably reduced.
