Abstract :
UWB is attractive for short range and indoor multiple access communications. We propose an orthogonal multi-pulse time-hopping scheme as an efficient modulation that allows a simultaneous transmission of the orthogonal pulses in a minimum bandwidth. The multi-pulse scheme has been successfully employed in the simultaneous transmission of PAM and QAM in a minimum bandwidth for many years but to the best of our knowledge this is the first time that this modulation scheme is proposed for pulse position modulation (PPM) within UWB technology.
