Abstract :
In this paper, an approach using a mode-matching technique in conjunction with the Floquet theorem is employed to analyze the dispersion characteristics of cylindrical waveguides with a periodically corrugated ground plane. The structure includes a periodically corrugated center conductor, outside of which is a cylindrical layered dielectric. The outermost layer could be open in the radial direction, or shielded by a perfect conductor. The characteristic equation which describes the dispersion relation for the periodic cylindrical waveguide is derived. The influence of the geometrical and electrical parameters on the passband/stopband characteristic is investigated. Numerical results for TM00 modes are found to have good agreement with those presented in the literature.
