Abstract :
The accuracy and convergence of the plane wave expansion for the closed-form spatial Green´s function that is conventionally used for the fast multipole method (FMM) analyzing MMIC are numerically analyzed. Specifically, the number of terms kept in the multipole expansion, L, and the required quadrature point number, li, in the Gauss quadrature are discussed in detail. The numerical results show that the convergence in some cases is poor.
