Abstract
The effects of multiple paths and channel capacity are a concern in communication systems. The SAS (smart antenna system) can solve these problems. The SAS can be divided by adaptive antenna array and MBA (multiple beam antenna array). In this paper, the different types of MBA are discussed. Several different types of SAS are developed at Da Yeh University for the applications of cellular telephone systems in GSM, WCDMA, and WLAN (wireless local area network). Key components such as wideband RF radiators and different kinds of RF BFN are developed for MBA. Several types of SAS with multiple beams and narrower beamwidth are developing and testing at Da Yeh University. The test results are quite in agreement with those of simulation.
