Abstract
In this paper, the feeding characteristics of a coplanar patch antenna (CPA) fed at the nonradiating edge (NRE) are discussed. Specifically, the variation of input impedance with the feed location along the NRE has been studied. From these studies, the optimal feed location at the NRE has been obtained for matching the CPA to a 50 Ω coplanar waveguide (CPW) feed line. The return loss of the fabricated antenna was measured to be 32 dB at the resonant frequency of 3.575 GHz. Design, simulation and measurements of this antenna are discussed here.
