Abstract
Two basic line topologies with distributed generation are considered here. The generator can be placed either at the middle of the line or at the end of the line. While the size and the exact placement changes the magnitude of the response of the system, the trends of the response can be seen from adjusting the inputs to the system. By examining these topologies, the control of the line can be accomplished. Each line was simulated for changes in power from the generator and voltage from the substation and generator. From these studies, it was found that the placement of the generator is only critical for raising the voltage to compensate for a voltage violation on the line. A chart of the adjustments to voltages and powers was also found, this would be used in a control algorithm to prevent certain violations on the line.
