Abstract :
A compact and low cost 60-GHz-band transmitter module is developed for millimeter-wave wireless systems in personal use. We develop an image rejection APDP mixer MMIC with an intentional LO-leakage and an IF hybrid circuit embedded in multi-layer LTCC package to realize single-side-band (SSB) self-heterodyne transmission scheme. The image rejection mixer MMIC exhibits a desired power of -13.3 dBm at 1-dB gain compression point, a LO-leakage power of -27 dBm, and an image rejection ratio of greater than 20 dB for an IF frequency of 1.5 GHz and an LO-leakage frequency of 64 GHz. The IF hybrid circuit shows a coupling of -3.3 dB, a thru of -3.8 dB and a phase difference between the coupling and the thru ports of 90.7 degree at a center frequency of 1.5 GHz.
