  • Abstract
In This work we will show the interest of optimizing metrics for routing demands using OSPF protocols. We are studying a part of the French transmission network. We are assuming installing optical switches and are studying the CAPEX obtained by several dimensioning. Two approaches are based on geographic metrics. The administrative weights for both of these metrics are the number of WDM systems and the length of WDM systems. One other dimensioning results from an optimization of the metric. With a cost of transmission per link, the optimization consists of choosing administrative weights in order to obtain the lowest possible cost for the network. The main goal of This work is to show the cost differences between such a classical metric and an optimized one. To have a reference, we will also evaluate the cost of a solution without a control plane; it means a meshed network with shared protection for the protected demands. These comparisons are done on four matrix sizes and on two network sizes (10 nodes and 17 nodes).
