Abstract :
There has been much interest in recent years in the use of multimode fibre links at ever higher bit rates. Current standards activities are seeking to achieve 10 Gbit/s operation at lengths of up to 300 m using installed-base fibre. To achieve such performance, techniques must be developed to overcome the dispersion limits and maximise the efficient use of MMF response. This paper presents a range of recent techniques to achieve this.
