            Abstract :
The 80.3% of slope efficiency has been achieved in 1-/spl mu/m cw laser oscillation by Nd:GdVO/sub 4/: this is the highest efficiency in Nd/sup 3+/ lasers. Spectroscopic properties of Nd:GdVO/sub 4/ compared to those of Nd:YVO/sub 4/ were also discussed.
