Abstract :
We have measured the individual transverse mode dynamics of high speed vertical-cavity surface-emitting lasers (VCSELs). A newly developed experimental technique has enabled picosecond-resolved measurements under modulation conditions comparable to typical Gbit/sec optical communication applications.
