  • Abstract
This paper presents a new concept of current-controlled state modeling of synchronous machine based on the well known impedance parameter model of quadripolar circuit analysis. The so-called impedance model is such that the armature and field currents are machine-controlled variables. The basic theory and advantages of the proposed model for performance predictions and parameter estimation are highlighted. Comparisons are made between simulation results and actual data obtained from a laboratory machine to assess the effectiveness of the proposed framework analysis.
