Abstract :
This paper investigates the torque performance of a double three-phase induction motor by using special phase current waveforms. The current waveform comprises of field and torque current components. The torque equation is developed for a specific motor model in the steady state. Three approaches are used to verify the torque performance namely a conventional analytical torque calculation method, a MMF-based calculation method using Matlab and the finite element torque calculation method. The results from the above three methods show some correlations. Comparing the proposed control method with the conventional d-q control method, this control strategy eliminates the d-q transformation and realizes direct control of the field and torque of the motor.
