Abstract :
Switches play an important role in wide area networks. To improve the performance of switching, buffering strategies are applied to store and forward the packets. Input buffering and output buffering are studied in this paper as two general and useful methods. Queue theory is used to analyze the utilization, mean delay and other performance measures.
