Abstract :
A new type of breath delivery was introduced to critical care life support called proportional assist ventilation (PAV). Unlike AC and PSV, the successful operation of PAV depends on an impedance model that closely matches true impedance and accurate estimation of model parameters. The original concept of PAV introduced by Younes assumes the simple RC model of the lung. Since the lung is actually much more complex than the RC model.
