Abstract :
1×EV-DO is a method for transmission of wireless packet data at high rates. It is designed to maximise throughput on the downlink by transmitting data at the highest rate that can be supported by the channel. In previous work, the system has mainly been evaluated by considering the average throughput. We use a system level simulation to investigate how the average throughput of a mobile is affected by its position in the cell. The results given show that the performance of a mobile can be greatly affected by its positioning in the cell, but this greatly depends on factors such as the number of antennas at the receiver and the transmitter and the scheduling method used.
