Abstract :
Possible ways of optimizing operating conditions for cathodes in millimeter-wave (MM-wave) magnetrons are considered with regard to secondary electron emission processes. An increased secondary emission in combination with a larger interaction space resulting from transition to a hetero-resonator slot-vane system in a non-π-mode magnetron or from transition to the electron stream interaction with higher spatial π-mode harmonics allows magnetron service life to be increased 5-7 times.
