Abstract :
Same cell reuse (SCR) strategies aim at reusing the available bandwidth within a cell after taking the appropriate measures for guaranteeing minimum quality-of-service requirements. Two techniques that allow for SCR are the spatial division multiple access (SDMA) and the channel allocation tiering (CHAT). We evaluate and compare the performance of these two forms of implementing the SCR concept by means of dynamic system-level simulations considering a GSM/EDGE radio access network. The analysis is done for the voice service and takes into account the usage of adaptive antennas, as well as a simplified interference suppression model.
