Abstract
THALES is an important player in the field of Ground Surveillance ( GS ), including ground based battlefield radars as well as Airborne GS radars. Tracking ground targets using MTI radar reports constitutes a major tecbnieal challenge in such projects, facing variable terrain structures and a dense environment of targets, of very different types and behaviours. Several GS tracking systems have been studied by THALES in recent years, mostly centred on the IMM algorithm reinforced by some additive processing, specific to the GS context. Associated study and demonstration IMM software tools have been realized, the exploitation of which has until now given promising results. An overview of these studies and results will be presented in this paper, with prospects of future research axis.
