Abstract
A novel configuration of dual reflector antenna for surveillance radar applications in X band is presented. Major features are: symmetric cosecant-squared elevation pattern, low sidelobes in the azimuth plane and bigb beam efficiency. Tbe design intends to provide high performance whilst minimizing the overall antenna dimension. The proposed dual-reflector configuration is characterized by a bi-focal hyperbolic subreflector, capable of producing efficient aperture illumination with small size, and a shaped main reflector. A comparison is made between a symmetric on-set dual reflector antenna and an off-set antenna based ou reflectors of the same aperture. Results of simulations are presented that show a higher effectiveness of the off-set configuration.
