Abstract
The development of the Internet and its technologies has been enormous in recent years and it represents a challenge for the field of automation. The wide spread use of the Internet technologies have invoked the idea of developing a standard platform for the remote control (RC) and remote maintenance (RM) of technical processes with the aim of high interoperability and inter changeability. This work presents a concept of Internet based RC and RM system which relies on the automatic control markup language (AConML). It describes mainly the components of the RC and RM system. AConML is a specific markup language defined through XML that was designed individually to complete these tasks. The idea of AConML rises to depose the reign of vendor specific platforms and object models invented as a result of competitions among of the developers of these systems.
