Abstract :
A cost effective control method was proposed to realize speed control of permanent magnet DC motors. The speed regulator was based on feedback of armature voltage and current. Model reference adaptive system based on RLS identification algorithm was adopted. The key point is to identify the system parameters. The design scheme was applied to squid jigging machines and satisfactory results were achieved. The regulator can work under the condition of fewer location signals, where conventional PID control was out of use. The scheme was particularly suited to the application where the speed accuracy was not so critical as the cost. Condition monitoring based on estimated system parameters was also discussed
