Abstract
A new impulse radio pulse generation method that combines the time-shifted and scaled versions of a baseband pulse is proposed. The parameters of the pulse generator are chosen to minimize the sensitivity of the resulting spectrum to process variations and device mismatches. The proposed design obviates the need for a 5-10 GHz local oscillator and is expected to take up less space and dissipate less power than an up-conversion type pulse generator.
