Abstract
The increased security feeling of passengers and drivers with deployment of video monitoring of the inside of buses and the provision of new added value services such as multimedia information and internet access while traveling are today necessary to increase mass transportation usage. Existing wireless transmission systems do not fit the needs of transport, particularly in term of robustness and high data rate transmission between buses and a control center. In this paper we present a solution that relies on a transmission system based on the same physical layer as the IEEE 802.16a standard and using multiple input multiple output techniques and iterative signal processes. Space time block code with turbo decoding on 2×4 antennas are considered in order to minimize the number of fixed base stations. Performances of different algorithms and mapping strategies are compared.
