Abstract
Active systems are achieved through definition of event-condition-action (ECA) rules. Generally, ECA rule representation and processing are separated. We have proposed a conditional colored Petri net (CCPN) approach to model and simulate ECA rules in our previous work. By CCPN approach rule representation and processing can be integrated in only one CCPN model. Furthermore, we developed a software interface ECAPNSim based on CCPN. ECAPNSim can generate CCPN model automatically from a text file of ECA rule description, and communicate with a traditional database system when an event is detected from the database or an action is activated by the CCPN simulator. In this paper, we report the application of ECAPNSim on the development of Mexican National Microorganism Information System CDBB-500.
