Abstract
A diffusion snake segmentation algorithm was evaluated on synthetic and real MR images of articular cartilage. The algorithm proved to be robust to missing boundaries and the initial contour converges over large distances. Compared with a standard B-spline snake, more accurate and reproducible segmentations were obtained, with less effort during initialisation of the algorithm.
