  • Abstract
In Korea, the 2.3 GHz frequency band will be allocated for a new mobile data service called the portable Internet service. So, it is important to investigate the effect of the adjacent channel interference caused by the portable Internet service on the conventional WLAN. In this paper, we evaluate the effect of adjacent channel interference from the portable Internet service on the conventional WLAN, taking into account the nonlinearity of RF components. We employed a polynomial based model for the amplifiers and confirmed the spectrum spreading phenomenon due to their nonlinearity. Also, we implemented the physical layer of 802.11b and portable Internet service system, and evaluated the interference effects of the portable Internet service with varying width of the guard band and relative power between the two data services.
