            Abstract :
We apply a layered space-time architecture to a DAB system for high-rate transmission. The MIMO-DAB system with a number of transmitting and receiving antennas increases the transmission rate efficiently with low multiplication operations. For channel estimation in the MIMO-DAB system, we propose a training sequence and evaluate the channel estimation performance based on semi-blind processing using time-domain windowing. We also investigate the performance limitation due to imperfect channel estimation in the MIMO-DAB receiver. For the performance evaluation, the effective SIR and average BER expressions of MIMO-DAB systems with unordered successive cancellation are derived taking into account of the effect of imperfect channel information. It is shown that the MIMO-DAB system with multi-antennas can achieve high-rate transmission for multimedia broadcasting and the performance of the MIMO-DAB system is impaired by imperfect channel information.
