  • Abstract
    Marine transportation in Vietnam in the last years has obtained many great achievements because of the national renovation. Marine transport has contributed their own important roles into the socio-economic development. Apart from the great achievement, there are still questions which remain unsettled, marine transport in Vietnam in comparison with the regional and the world is small scale, low technical standard backward equipment and technology, and limited capacity. In order to obtain a modern marine transport system in the next 15 years (2005-2020) for servicing the national industrialization and modernization cause and integrating into the world, it is necessary to have correct development orientations and reasonable progresses with country´s condition in each period of time. This work presents the important basic viewpoints in the development of the national marine transport sector in the next 15 years: targets of transport, development orientations of network, details of development directions of marine domestic and international transport according Vietnam Government Plan.
