Abstract :
The paper describes the design and implementation of a distributed measurement system for water quality (WQ) monitoring characterized by multi-parameter measurement capabilities and SDI-12 data communication. The WQ sensors considered are pH, temperature, conductivity and turbidity. They are components of multi-parameter measurement nodes of a water quality SDI-12-based network, each of them being characterized by different communication standards, including 420ma and RS232. Conversion to the SDI-12 standard of the WQ measurement node interfaces represents one of the important parts of the work. The network node supervision is done by a laptop PC connected to the SDI-12 interface bus by an RS-232/SDI-12 converter. The use of the PC also permits advanced data processing and data publishing taking into account its IEEE802.11g compatibility. Elements of the design and implementation of the measurement channel data processing and data communication are reported
