Abstract
Classical lumped components delay lines are built with inductances and capacitors arranged as to match the standard telegraphist line model to obtain slow group velocity lines. In this study, the authors demonstrate that a practical way to obtain a significant group velocity reduction consist in taking advantage of the forbidden bands that present a one-dimensional metamaterial. The feasibility of this kind of line, as well as its ability to transmit data are discussed and practically verified.
