Abstract
Late mover advantage plays an important part in the development of technological latecomers. This paper introduces a research exploring the evolution process of secondary innovation and elaborates the way to achieve late mover advantage from imitation to innovation. It identifies three essentials of enhancing competitive advantage and examines the relationship between advantage of backwardness and secondary innovation. A case study of a Chinese manufacturer is carried out to expand the process and mechanism. It provides some perspectives for technology catch-up of developing countries.
