Abstract
This article presents the idea of a project introduced in 2000, called International summer school of solving technical problems in mechanics, material sciences and transportation. This innovation was established at the Faculty of Machines and Transportation at Poznan University of Technology, Poland. The project was an answer for growing students´ needs and expectations. Thanks to this innovation students can present their knowledge, capabilities and creativeness. Not only they are the main actors of this project. The International summer school is also a bridge between university and industry. Problems, which are solved during this school, come from real situations, mainly from industry. One can say that the International summer school is a strike of theoretical knowledge and practical problems to solve
