Abstract :
In this paper, a simple model for studying the beam-wave interaction in the output gap of a klystron was developed using MathCad. The output parameter could be obtained, with the advantage of simplicity and speed compared with traditional disc and ring model. The calculated results were compared with those from MAFIA simulation and the errors for efficiency are within half decibel. The model is also used to investigate the dependence of efficiency on perveance and bunch parameters.
