Abstract :
Reproducing encapsulated emotions and ideas of human consciousness into the real world has been a continuous desire in human history and colour plays an important role in discerning an object and in communicating thoughts and emotions. From the beginning of the twentieth century, an explosive number of developments occurred in conjunction with colour imaging devices, e.g. colour photography, colour television, colour printing and colour displays, which have stimulated a need for accurate colour reproduction across media. In this paper, definition of image quality and methods of image quality evaluation used for computer graphics, TV systems and colour science are reviewed. Also the appropriate evaluation method is suggested at the end of the paper.
